  • Day 1 Sarapiqui

Upon arrival in San Jose, you will be met and transferred to the Caribbean lowlands for a two-night stay at the Selva Verde Lodge with all meals included.
Selva Verde Lodge is located near Puerto Viejo and only two-hours from San Jose. Selva Verde is a rainforest lodge, which is dedicated to educating its guests on the wonders and natural beauty of Costa Rica's unique and fragile tropical rainforest. The Rio Sarapiquí flows through the property and you will find several small streams, which attract an array of birds and wildlife.  Conservation is a major reason for the establishment of Selva Verde Lodge. Here you can learn fascinating principles for protecting the intricate balance of nature in the world's rapidly diminishing rainforest. (D) Note:  For same day transfers, arrivals must be by 530pm

    Day 2 Sarapiqui

Selva Verde Lodge offers a guided birding tour each morning at 6am.  Learn more about the fascinating aviary found in the tropics, some of which are migratory from the U.S. Following breakfast you will enjoy white water rafting.  A preliminary safety orientation will prepare you for the challenges you’ll face on the water. Keep an eye out for the diversity of the wildlife seen at the river’s edge in between the Class I-III rapids. A professional river guide escorts all trips.  This afternoon you will enjoy another walk through the Selva Verde forest trails with an English-speaking naturalist guide.

    Day 3  Arenal

Early morning transfer to the Arenal Volcano Park, where you will stay at the Arenal Paraiso for the next two nights.  From the hotel, you can enjoy  optional tours as time permits such as horseback riding to the Arenal Volcano and the surrounding properties, Caño Negro wildlife refuge, white water rafting, La Fortuna waterfall, boat rides through the Arenal lagoon, fishing,  Venado caves, hiking to Cerro Chato, Celeste river, and much more. Several kilometers of private trails on their own 65 hectares Finca is also offered.  Exuberant gardens, green areas, different bird species and the best view of the majestic Arenal Volcano surround the hotel. The hotel offers a large pool, a hot spring fed wet bar, a kid’s pool, & changing rooms nearby.  After getting settled the adventure continues with a canopy experience at Arenal Paraiso.  The feeling of flying through the trees is unmatchable, 12 platforms and 350 meters of cables at about 85 meters in height.  This evening dinner will be at Tabacón Hot Springs where you may enjoy a relaxing soak in the spring's restorative waters. These hot springs are encircled by landscaped gardens and have beautiful pools of every shape, size, and depth built around them so that you can enjoy these refreshing heated waters in many different ways.  The largest pool includes a swim up bar and a water slide. There are countless smaller pools scattered about the huge grounds as well as a heated stream rushing through the bridges, paths and trails.
